Over all, this set was nice. I bought it for my 2.5 year old daughter & 4.5 year old son. They both liked that there was a doll for each of them and were fascinated with the flip flops. They also liked that Barbie's feet looked like real feet instead of the teeny-tiny feet the rest of my daughter's dolls have. The overall quality of these dolls does not compare to that of the dolls we already have, but I didn't expect that since they were only $5. (And these are the only Barbies I've purchased since I was a child, so I don't know what current quality of regular priced dolls is now.) My only question is, "What's up with Ken's hair??" It was very stiff and uneven, as if my kids had given him a hair cut. I assumed this was just part of the cheaper doll, but I looked at some more expensive ones at Target later on and Ken's hair was strange there too.

I just wanted to give Amazon a HUGE thank you for honoring the $5 price tag during this one-week Barbie promotion. I received the email about this doll set from Mattel, Target, and Walmart and I'm ecstatic that Amazon is also participating, as I prefer buying from Amazon anyway!
This Barbie & Ken set is being sold at an amazing price and I purchased two of them - one for my 5 year old to play with, and one to donate for use at a kids auction. The dolls themselves are basic plastic (not bendable vinyl) and have minimal accessories (Ken: towel, flipflops, and watch; Barbie: sunglasses, hoop earrings, and pink flipflops) BUT these dolls are very sturdy and Barbie wears a modest one-piece (sans the typical, useless heels).
Considering how much an average/basic Barbie doll retails for, this set can't be passed up as it's basically 2-for-1! Plus, Ken has that cute lipstick imprint for his 50th bday! Great Valentine's Day purchase!

My daughter wanted a boy for her Barbie that had "muscles". Good grief. She wanted a boy with real hair, too.
So we got this set for her for her birthday. She was excited about the Barbies and I was excited about the price. Well worth it!
