Great fun with a small flaw in design Oct 09, 2010
By R. Brasher My 4yr old son does love his Wolf Mountain toy and has played with it nonstop since yesterday. However, there is a design flaw in the two gates that attach to the front. A box of "treasure" is hidden behind one half of the gate. This half will not stay put. The slightest touch to the toy makes the gate fall. It's supposed to lock into the bigger gate section, but it does this very poorly. As a result, my son gets frustrated that it doesn't perform as it's supposed to. I've had to coax him into getting over it, but the fact is, he shouldn't have to. He's been anticipating this toy for months. He shouldn't have anything to be disappointed about when he finally does get it.

Poorly Made Nov 21, 2010
By Sarah A Springston I purchased this toy as a birthday present for a friend's five year son. He loved it, but I was very disappointed in how poorly it was made. There is a flaw in the front gate, and the swinging bridge, both pieces would not stay on. Also, there is a lever that's supposed to be able to be pulled, that causes an explosion type of reaction with the swinging bridge, it would not pull at all. Overall, he still likes to play with it, but for the price it should have been made better.

Great Fun... Poor Quaility Mar 04, 2011
By The Walkers
"My employers are 1, 3, and 4 years old!"
My boys 5 and 6 got this for Christmas and they do play with it often, often enough to make storing it a little less the hassle :) So the good and bad -
Good: * it is fun for the kids... they love playing with it * the red eyes that light up really crack my kids up... they can't get enough * the sound quality of the howl is good and pretty loud... almost offensively loud but still in safe noise level zone in our house. * the idea of the toy is a neat one... driving cars into the mouth then through trap roads to in the end get the hidden treasure. Neat concept. * the wolf really looks life like which is a highlight for my kids * it does not go off in the night like some of our other sound producing toys such as my babies laugh and learn puppy and such.
Bad * very cheap plastic parts - the roads are think plastic that is easily bend and can quickly be damaged in the wrong hands * the swinging basket part of the road does not work right. 30% of the time it works and the rest of the time you have to physically move it to the other side of the road. * the trap doors holding the treasure was NOT thought out... they will drive you and your kids crazy. Honestly.. we threw ours away. The doors pop off completely every time a car goes down the ramp and they are a huge pain to get back on. It is like finding a needle in the haystack to align each piece just right to push into place... only to have the door fall off after all your hard work because they are made to barely hold on so they can fall easily when the car drives over the switch to pop them off. ANNOYING!!!! We hate this feature. * and the elevator that brings the cars to the top of the mountain is junk. Half the time you will knock over the whole thing trying to get the ramp to go up. It gets stuck on every notch. My kids don't even use the elevator because it is just useless. * It is not small... it takes up some space because of the shape. The dimensions are 13in high and 26in long. Also if you want to keep the trap doors, small box of treasure and boulder you will need to find a place to keep them in because the doors will not stay on the set, any jiggle, bump, and sometimes just nothing makes them fall off.
So why with so much bad 4 stars? My kids love to play with it. The concept keeps them coming back and the cons are not enough to deter them with the exception of us just getting ride of those pesky trap doors.

Cheaply made piece of dook. Mar 24, 2011

I bought this for a 7 year old, he had seen it at Toys R Us and was intrigued by it. Then he saw a commercial for it and the kid on TV looked like he and his friend were having soooo much fun so he decided he MUST have it. I waited until the price lowered to 20 bucks here on amazon, it was 40 at Toys R Us. After we assembled it we realized the elevator didn't even work. The only funcional part was the wolf head. When we were lucky enough to get the car to crash through the gate we quickly realized it was a pain to try to get the gate to stay in place when we wanted to reset it. This is just a cheaply made piece of dook if you ask me. I would have been really steamed if i had to pay 40 dollars for it. He played with it for about 20 mins, now it sits a corner collecting dust. YEAH WOLF MOUNTAIN! Get the kid a rock and call it wolf mountain, its cheaper.
Lots of entertainment, one flaw with simple workaround Dec 29, 2011
By Inactive Fred My son wanted this even though I told him a lot of people didn't seem to like it because of the gate issue. He insisted so I went ahead and bought it for him for Christmas. I'm glad I did. I see what people mean about the gate. My simple workaround: don't use the gate, just leave it off. The gate is such a small part of the overall experience that it's just not worth the fuss to me. All it does is allow the plastic treasure chest to slide out at the end of one of the two possible paths the car can take. That's it. I took the gate off and set the treasure chest on the track so you get "collision fun" from hitting the treasure chest instead of hitting the gate.
Again, there are two possible paths the car/jeep can take down the mountain. The other one, featuring the mine car and boulder, is more interesting anyway and works pretty well with no particular issues. A couple of points on that one, though. First, be sure the pins (or whatever) that hold the mine car are pushed all the way into the mountain before starting the run. Second, for the car/jeep we received, it worked better if we ran the car backwards down the track. Otherwise, the jeep would get stuck going into the mine car.
